Finals: How to Stay Sane While You Study

Now that the end of the semester is upon us I would like to share with you some of my tips for staying sane while studying for all of your finals.

1. Do double duty while you study. While you are sitting around on your computer or reading, why not use that time to let a hair mask sit or a let a face mask dry. Not only are you doing something nice for your skin and hair but when it is time to rinse away the treatment you have an excuse to take a break.

2. When you do need to take a break from your studies, make sure that you are doing something productive like washing some dishes or folding cloths. Doing this will make you feel like you are still being productive while simultaniously giving yourself a break.

3. Listen to music that doesn't have words. When you do this you are stimulating your brain, blocking out outside distractions, and keeping yourself awake which is especially useful when you are pulling an all-nighter. When I study I listen to a Harry Potter Score station on Pandora.

4. Keep some healthy and crunch snacks close by. Eating while you work helps keep you awake and if you are munching on some carrots or nuts you are giving your body some neutrients that it would otherwise be lacking if you were snacking on Doritos.

5. Set up a reward system for yourself to keep you motivated. Make sure that you set reasonable increments and that the reward you give give yourself is something you actually like.

6. Start studying earlier than you think you need to. Doing this will help prevent those dreaded all-nighters and by spreading out your studying over a few days you give yourself more time to let the information sink in.
