NovelTea: A Boy Condemned to a Life Without Love and the Family Responsible.

As Rowling has told her readers, the reason that Voldemort cannot love is because he was conceived under the effects of a love potion given to a muggle by his mother. In the beginning of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire we are taken back to the day that the Riddle family was murdered by Voldemort. This particular act of cruelty is one that intrigues me, not because of how many people were killed, but because of the reason why. Voldemort, than Tom, had come back to seek vengeance on the family that had abandoned him as an orphan, condemned him to a life without love, and had soiled his magical blood. Three reasons, three deaths. Than the book returns to a more present time when Voldemort and his followers are staying in the house while they bide their time until he can return to power. The grounds keeper, who was framed for the Riddle’s murders hears them in the house and goes to investigate, thinking that they are kids trespassing on the land. When he goes up the stairs he is killed by the actual murderer, a fourth murder in the house he should have been raised in. A fourth murder to begin the fourth book… interesting.
